I just wanted to thank everyone for the feedback on whether or not I should create a Twitter account for preview shots of costumes. I did indeed make an account, so if you wish to follow me I'm @AmmieDesigns
I will be uploading WIP, teaser shots and never before seen costumes that I will be photographing in the next few months. If you're interested in seeing what costumes I will be uploading next on here, go ahead and check it out! I will also be uploading commission shots of completed projects. So if you have a commission pending from me, you can see what it looks like via Twitter.

My last minute event is International Sailor Moon Day Toronto. I am the cosplay guest of honor! Thanks to the organizers for wanting to invite me to this event. As everyone knows I am a major Sailor Moon fan and I have actually cosplayed every Sailor Senshi at this point. I will be running at least 2 workshops there for Sailor Moon costume construction. They have a poll on their Facebook page asking attendees which workshops they would prefer.
I am still up in the air about which costume I should wear, but I think it's down to either Sailor Neptune or Emerald.

I will still be at London Comic Con, but only for Friday and Saturday. I have a split workshop I will be running Saturday morning at 10:30am on leather mask forming followed by Sailor Moon bow tutorials. The Sunday I am off the Sailor Moon event.

I did attend Fanexpo Toronto for 2 days (Saturday and Sunday) and despite it being super packed, I actually did have a good time. I was part of a Bioshock Infinite group on Saturday and I am just awaiting the photos. I got a lot of compliments on my Elizabeth dress, I'd like to thank everyone for the lovely comments on the dress! I also wore Black Widow on Sunday.
The only guest I went to go meet was Robin Lord Taylor. I brought photos on my phone of my Gotham Penguin cosplay to show him and he was beyond impressed by it! He told me it was the best cosplay he had ever seen, and not just because it was of him. He was very impressed with the attention to detail and care that went into it and said he was honored and flattered. I feel like that was the final stamp of approval on that costume effort. The Penguin costume was one I was really nervous to do since I don't look a thing like the character. I did gain the skill level to work with prosthetic makeup and that will come in handy in future costumes, as I have a classic Joker cosplay planned for the near future!

I did finally finish my Sailor Moon costume tutorial and I will be uploading it on here very soon. It's a very in depth and lengthy tutorial containing about 20 pages of photos and a walk through on how I make the fuku's.
Keep a look out for that if you're interested on how I make a Sailor Moon costume from start to finish!

Till next time!
  • Watching: still watching Gotham!
  • Playing: Batman Arkham Knight
  • Drinking: Tea
I usually neglect my journal, but I promised myself I wouldn't...so here we go, I'm writing a new entry within a two month time frame!

Costume Sale:
I still have various costumes for sale from the list I had posted on the Nominoichi forum. Some have sold, but I still have quite a few remaining, as well, I may have more to add to that list.
Now that I have tested out my swappable fuku's for Sailor Moon costuming, it means I can start slowly selling off some of my original Sailor scout fuku's. As I slowly get the new scout costumes underway I will be posting more of my original fuku's for sale. This will be mainly basic fuku's (Sailors Mars, Venus, Mercury etc.)
The only eternal's I have for sale are eternal Jupiter (size XSmall) and eternal Neptune (size medium.)
If you are interested in buying a costume from me please send me a note on here, comment below or if you are not a registered member you can email my cosplay account at: Ammiecosplay@hotmail.com

Tutorials:
I am also going to be writing up and providing photos for a massive Sailor Moon fuku tutorial. I figure it's about time as I am asked about my Sailor Moon costumes constantly. I do sell the pattern I use to make my own Sailor Moon costumes and this tutorial will be the instructions on how to put it together.

Convention Plans:
In news of conventions and plans for this summer, I was hoping to go to ConBravo for at least a day, but this heavily depends on my friends and if they are able to go. I have never been to ConBravo and this is its fifth year running. I have a few friends on staff for that con, and I have really wanted to check it out since the beginning, but still have not T_T.
The next con I will be attending is at the beginning of August (1-3) in Kitchener called Emiko's Mini Convention. I am actually their cosplay guest of honor and I will be assisting in judging the masquerade as well as have my own table where I will be selling some of my older costumes, figures and prints of my costumes. If you can make it out to Emiko's Mini Con in Kitchener please drop by and say hi!
Lastly, the final con of the summer is going to be Fanexpo...yes, I will be going back to that con after a 2 year absence. Jay has mentioned he wants to meet Adam West so we will be going for 1 day only. Fanexpo has become far too expensive for costumers to attend due to the ticket cost, hotel and parking. The weekend alone would cost me nearly a thousand dollars to go and I can't justify that for a convention that is over crowded. I'm still not sure of what day we will be going, but it's most likely going to be the Saturday.

I am hoping to attend another con in late September called Jemcon. It's the first time Jemcon will be in Canada and I am a huge Jem and the Holograms fan! I am hoping to go for at least a day with my best friend, Dee, who is also a Jem fanatic. I have a huge selection of Jem costumes to choose from such as Jem (Classic, Like a Dream, Star Bright, Broadway Magic, and Glitter N' Gold) or Carmen "Raya" Alonzo and Sheila "Jetta" Burns.

Costumes:
I have been slowly working on getting a lot of my costumes photographed over the summer so please check back often. I have quite a few costumes that still need to be photographed and I am working to get most of them done this year.

My next journal probably won't be until the autumn or late summer with my plans for later this year.
I also plan on opening up a Storenvy shop to list the costumes I am selling as well as some figures and plushies. The shop name is Ammie's Shop.
  • Listening to: Jem and The Holograms
  • Reading: Sailor V Manga
  • Watching: From Dusk Till Dawn the Series
  • Playing: TellTale Walking Dead Season 2
It's been such a long time since I've written an entry. This time around I want to inform people that I am selling some of my older cosplay costumes and wigs! I have them listed at lower costs just to get rid of them. I have a list on the Anime North Nominoichi forum (I will be table N142).
A link to the list can be found here:

teahousemaplemoon.proboards.co…

Anything that is crossed off is already spoken for. I will ship any of my costumes for sale out (buyer assumes shipping costs)
I am only willing to ship costumes at this point, not figures, anime DVDs etc. COSTUMES ONLY!
If you are interested in any of the costumes listed or have any question, please leave a comment below or send me a note and I will get back to you.
When I return from Anime North I will list other items and offer shipping. If you are attending Anime North this year and would like something reserved from the list, leave a comment below or a note and I will hold it for you.

I am unsure of what costume I will be wearing at my table. They have informed us that the hall Nominoichi takes place in gets rather warm. So I will go by the weather forecast for Friday of AN. The 2 costumes I am juggling between are:

"The Bride" from Kill Bill (Yellow "Bruce Lee" Jumpsuit)
OR
Juliet from Lollipop Chainsaw (if the weather takes a turn for hot and humid)

On Saturday I will be Harley Quinn from the upcoming game Batman: Arkham Knight.

I will only be attending AN this year for 2 days due to lack of hotels available in the area. I live 2.5 hours from the con area and can't drive back and forth each day.

I will update this journal when I get back from AN with any additional items I will be selling.
  • Watching: From Dusk Till Dawn the Series
Well Anime North is done and over with for another year. Despite the fact a cold front went through right before the con weekend and it was cold as heck out, the con was overall pretty fun. I did freeze in most of my costumes that I brought (AN is typically very warm every year so summer costumes are generally a must!).

On Friday night I was one of the panelists for the Resident Evil panel along with Straywind, ReJect001,and the InterNat. We ran into a few surprises right before the con, the surprise being we had a "special guest" panelist. That guest ended up being Ray Olubowale. Ray played the Executioner aka the Axeman in the Resident Evil movies (Afterlife and Retribution). Ray is also a heavyweight boxing champion for Canada. He stood about 6"8 and was a really nice guy to chat with. He told us stories of how he got the role and what it was like to get into costume. He also told us what it was like to work with the actors on set and do stunts. He said he would come back next year to tell us about the 6th movie that is due out in late 2014. He will be reprising his role as the Axeman for the sixth installment of the movie franchise.

As for costumes that were worn to Anime North 2013 my list is as follows:
Friday:
Super Sailor Mars-Sailor Moon
Ada Wong- Resident Evil 6 (for the Resident Evil Panel)

Saturday:
Wicked Lady- Sailor Moon R
Harley Quinn- Harley Quinn's Revenge (Batman Arkham City)

Sunday:
Claire Redfield- Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles (Memory of a lost City)

I did mange to get a couple shots of Wicked Lady. My wig is in need of repairs though. It took some damage during transportation. Our car was packed and some of the wig fibers were coming out of place. The curls at the sides were also falling out O_o. I didn't wear Wicked Lady too long, only about an hour and a half. The red contacts started irritating my eye. I'm hoping to get a re-shoot of it very soon. Private shoots tend to turn out better in the long run I find.

I got no photos of my Super Mars costume T_T I'm hoping to get a shoot of that one as well. This fuku style is a lot different then what I normally make. Instead of using satin I used cotton. The skirt is also hand pleated to look more like the super style (a lot like my Super Moon costume).

Ada I didn't get any photos done either. The only thing that has changed about the costume is my harness. This time I have a real leather one that Jay made me. Other then that, it's all the same.

Harley's Revenge is the only costume I got an organized photo shoot done of. I am just waiting on those photos from Rock Nam Lee. He has shot my other 2 Harley costumes and those photos turned out amazing! I am excited to see the results of this new Harley shoot!

Claire I got some shots of at the Cosplay for a Cure booth on Sunday. You can donate any amount you like to them and they will give you a shoot. The most important thing about this shoot is the money that is given goes to breast cancer research. Every little bit helps towards this and I highly encourage people to donate any amount of money towards it.
The photos were taken by Elemental.

As for more news I have some more costumes I need photographed and hope to get those shots during the summer.
Some of those costumes include:

TX- Terminator 3
Alice- Alice Madness Returns
Claire Redfield- Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles (Game of Oblivion)
Molly- Walking Dead TellTale Game
Tina Armstrong - Dead or Alive 4/5 (Red Rockstar)
Super Sailor Mars- Sailor Moon
Wicked Lady- Sailor Moon
Sailor Moon- Sailor Moon

This is just to name off a few. I have a giant backlog of costumes that are in need of photos it's beyond overwhelming T_T. There are also costumes I want re-shoots done for as well such as Poison Ivy, Diao Chan etc.
I am looking for local photographers if anyone is interested in photographing cosplay. Just send me a note or leave a comment below. I normally depend on IcePhoenix but he is often very busy with his job and doesn't have a lot of time to photograph everything I have. He is a great photographer and I highly recommend him if you are looking for photos during a con event.

In other news with costumes I am buying my first cosplay costume from a company called ANOVOS. They have replica's of Star Trek uniforms mainly. I have ordered a Science division dress from the new Star Trek Movie: Star Trek Into Darkness. I have always loved the new design uniforms from the JJ Abrams reboot. I made one back in 09 before the movie was released but it's not very accurate. The new uniforms actually have the delta print screen printed into the fabric. In order for me to do that to some fabric it would cost me about $200+. The replica's cost around that price so I might as well splurge on the replica. I should be receiving my dress sometime in June. I hope to get photos of that as well in my summer line up.

My last thing I want to mention is I am in the process of opening up a Storenvy store front. It hasn't gone live yet as I am still updating it and designing it. I will be selling some of my older costumes on there as well as wigs and figures from my collection. It's somewhat of an online garage sale that I can pass my costumes and accessories onto other people who will use them more then I will. I get several PM's on every site I am on about selling specific costumes from my collection. If I am selling them they will be on my Storenvy. When my shop goes live it will be called: Ammie's Shop. Please stop by and have a look. I try to price things as fair as possible.
I will also be creating random Steampunk designs in the very near future to sell up there. I need to clear out a lot of fabric from my storage and this is how I will be doing so! If you have any designs or ideas for a Steampunk dress, corset or outfit this isn't limited to only females. I make male uniforms as well) please drop me a line and I can make custom designs with fabric I have on hand.

I realize I am really bad at updating my journal. I will try to be more active with it from now on lol.
I haven't updated my journal since I made an account so I figure now is as good as time as any. My New Year's went well and now normal life must resume..blah.
My commission block is now filled up until the end of May. If anyone inquires about new commissions they will be put on a waiting list. I am going to try and get through as many commissions as possible to open up more blocks but I can't make any promises. So far this year is off to a very busy start!

I am hoping to get more photos soon of some costumes that are in need of photo's. I have 2 Christmas themed outfits that I was hoping to get photos of before the Holidays but we didn't have any snow till the 26th. I live in Canada and snow is almost becoming a thing of the past, at least in the area I live in. I am in southern Ontario and it has been very mild so far (and the past few years for that matter!). Now that there is some snow my photographer, IcePhoenix has suggested doing photos sometime later this week while the snow remains. With any luck I will be able to get both Christmas costumes photographed and posted in the next coming week or 2.
I still have a massive back log of costumes that are in waiting for photos. I was suggested to look into a local photographer who has her own studio. I was able to get ahold of her and she wants to meet with me after the 8th of this month to discuss costumes and photos. She has never worked with a cosplayer before but wants to get into photographing costume art. I have a few Lord of the Rings inspired outfits I designed myself that I am eager to get photos of. As much as I love recreating costumes of existing designs, I very much have a true love for desiging my own stuff then trying to make it a reality. I have an Elven style gown I made as well as 2 Sprite/Hobbit style outfits. After watching the Hobbit I really want to get my LOTR stuff photographed. I am a big fan of Tolkien's works and have read all the tales of Middle Earth.

Another original design I have done is a Steampunk gown. I was hoping for photos of it back in the autumn with all the bright tree shades..but it never happened.

As for Con plans the next con I plan on going to is Con G at the end of Feburary in Guelph, Ontario. I am not certain what my final costume list will be for the con. I have talked to photographer Elemental about a shoot for my Morticia Addams costume. She had expressed alot of interest in it and I am a big fan of her photography. I believe my Mortal Kombat Sonya Blade is another costume I will be bringing to Con G.
The other ones I have in mind are either my Sailor Jupiter or Super Sailor Mars. Cosplayer Karitsa commissioned me to make her a Super Mercury a bit over a year ago and I agreed to be the Mars to her Mercury. Her 2 friends Megan and Tanya commissioned me to make them Super Jupiter and Venus. I haven't had the chance to wear my Super Mars yet. So if they are doing their group I will be wearing Super Mars for sure! Straywind had mentioned wearing her Sailor Moon costume, so either way I will match her lol.
My last 2 I am deciding on is either my Tina Armstrong from Dead or Alive 5 (red Rockstar varient) or Frosta from She-Ra Princess of Power. Frosta is still in works but Tina is complete. Straywind told me to bring anything that needed to be photographed, and, well...all of these need to be photographed lol. It's why I have narrowed my list down to these possibilities.

I discovered yesterday that cosplay site Amercian Cosplay Paradise has choosen me as their Acy's pic for the month! I am very honoured by it XD I have had a profile on ACP for 2 years now. Thank you so much ACP!!
www.acparadise.com/acp/
I also discovered they chose Jay (The Letter Jay) as their acy's pic for the male cosplayers page!
Jay works really hard on his costumes and it's often over looked. I find it's very difficult for male cosplayers to be recognized cause most people assume they buy their costumes and they can't sew..this is not true. So many cosplayers that are male actually make their stuff from scratch. Jay is one of those cosplayers. He has taught me a great deal with tact gear construction (which comes in handy with Resident Evil cosplays!) and more recently working with leather for strudy props and armour. Go check out Jay's cosplay page when you have a chance!
www.acparadise.com/ace/

Finally, I was interviewed by a lovely cosplayer by the name of Constatine for a website called JapanCinema.net. She has a "cosplay corner" section on the site where she interviews various cosplayers and tailors the questions to the cosplayer. It's probably one of the best cosplay interviews I have had. She asked really great in depth questions! If you want to check that out you can find it here:
japancinema.net/2012/12/19/cos…

I hope everyone had a good New Years and all the best for 2013!
I finally made a Deviantart account! I promised myself to do this for awhile! This site appealed to me cause I can upload some of my artwork as well as my costumes. The other cosplay sites don't allow drawings/paintings. I have also made custom dolls and figures that I plan on posting here.

I will slowly be adding stuff each day to my profile so stay tuned for all that stuff XD
