Rozen's Dolls

This costume was another bad mother to make. I was fortunate enough to get all the velvet (yes the costume is made of velvet) all of it for $28. A local fabric store was closing and they had the perfect navy blue velvet on sale for 75% off. I knew it was time to make Suigin Tou! From the moment I watched the Rozen Maiden series I adored Suigin Tou. She was a gorgeous doll but had a very arrogant attituted and a total jealous hatrid for Shinku. When I found out my friend, Straywind, was planning a Shinku cosplay I was overwhelmed with joy. I let her know I had Suigin Tou in the works and from there we made it happen! We choose to wear these at Youmacon (2011) since the weather is cooler. Being in velvet (that is lined) would issue severe heat stroke in the summer.
I made the jacket, lined it, and it has a hook and eye closure up front. The inner white sleeves are chiffon. The dress underneath is a boned bodice made of white cotton and the lower half is velvet that is lined in the petal shapes. The crosses are appliqued on, and are the same white cotton used for the bodice and underskirt. The underskirt is a whole seperate part altogether. I made a hoop skirt, that is yet another part under the dress. I made it using a hula hoop lol. It works! The wings I made by hand and glued on all the black feathers to a cardboard frame with wire structure. The wings are held in place by 2 metal wires that slide down the back of my bodice.
The wig is a cosworx Ivy in white. I cut the bangs into it and poofed them out. The red eye contacts are extreme! I was hoping to find cranberry colored ones but had no luck T_T
The boots are boot covers that are made from velour in the exact color the velvet is. The roses were floral silk roses in lilac.
