Description
This is the first Steampunk dress I have thrown together. The entire thing was made of scrap fabric I had. The only thing that was purchased was the wig, Victoria in ash blonde from Arda wigs.
The corset is heavily structured; I used industrial zip ties for boning. It laces in the back with a navy ribbon. The pocket watch was a gift from a friend.
The front drape the shrug is the same fabric, they are both lined. The back drape was some navy twill I had. It is bustled in the back and lined with grey fabric. I made a bustle pillow with the remaining fabric from the grey lining.
The white lace gloves were made of wide lace trim that lace up at the sides.
The mini top hat was made of remaining black velvet I had from another project.
The knee high spats are made of white suede, fully lined, they have several buttons down the outer sides. The have hidden zippers on the sides for ease of taking on and off.
The cane is a wooden dowel with a spiral curtain rod topper on the end. I decorated it up with various scrap laces and antiqued chains.
I haven't made any gadgets or functioning mechanical devices for the costume. I was focusing on getting rid of my spare fabric. I do have other designs that are in production. Hopefully I can crate some mechanical gadgets for future designs.
